Used parts shops and recyclers that sell them are popularly known as junk yards, salvage yards, wrecking yards as well as auto recyclers. So all you need to do is search for such places in your locality by using newspapers or the internet.

Ask lots of questions, such as; how long will you need to leave your car, when can they get to it, and do they have ASE Certified technicians. Have them explain what is wrong with your vehicle and what needs to be done to fix it. Take notes so you can compare the different shops.

There are thousands of auto parts that are available at online stores so you need to be clear about what you are looking for to make your purchase simple. If you randomly start exploring auto parts it may take a lot of time to select one. It would also be not prudent to browse them without knowing what you want.
Well, guess what. Chefs and mechanics don’t think the same way! No doubt, were you to take your own fish into the restaurant to ask for a cheaper meal you would quickly be shown the door. However, this is not the case when you need car parts.

The shop I’ve gone too even has a rating system of the best auto insurance companies right in their lobby.
You can ask to have the bad parts returned to you, thinking that will offer proof that the work was really required. What you don’t know is that the unethical auto repair shop often stockpiles bad parts just for this purpose. The ruined part you receive may well have come from another vehicle! The mechanic, who is instructed by the shop owner to practice such deceit, wants to keep his job and thus goes along with the program.
Know the car component that you need. Nothing could be worse than purchasing a car part only to find out that it doesn’t fit. As much as possible, when you go to the store, bring the part that needs replacement to make sure that you get exactly what you need.
